Guided Walk with Dwayne Tomah

April 18 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Join us for a special guided walk through the Fore River Sanctuary with Dwayne Tomah, a Passamaquoddy Language Keeper!

To celebrate the release of the Fore River Sanctuary Guided Walk audio recording, led by Dwayne Tomah, we're honored to invite you to an intimate, in-person walk through one of Portland's most beloved green spaces. Dwayne will lead the group along the trail through the Fore River Sanctuary and share Passamaquoddy language, knowledge, and perspective about our relationship to the natural world – and to each other. Let us know you'll be there!

Dwayne is a Passamaquoddy Language Keeper and cultural preservationist. He is the youngest fluent speaker of his tribe's language. You can learn more about Dwayne here.

We'll meet in the 1601 Congress Street parking lot (located off of Frost Street). Dress for the weather and the trail conditions – this may be a muddy walk!

NOTE: Please park in the west parking lot of 1600 Congress St., circled on the map below. Please DO NOT park at the 1601 Congress St. lot. See the map for the walking route from the parking lot to the start of the walk.
